Tax preparation for individuals and small businesses

Personal, partnership, S-corp, C-corp and nonprofit returns, prepared from books that match and explained in plain English. One preparer for your business return and your personal return, so the numbers line up and nothing falls between them.

Starting at $97, quoted after a free call.

Returns I prepare

Individuals (Form 1040)

W-2 employees, self-employed owners (Schedule C), rental owners (Schedule E), investors, and people with K-1s from their businesses. Non-resident returns too.

Partnerships and multi-member LLCs (Form 1065)

The partnership return and a K-1 for each partner, with capital accounts kept straight from year to year.

S-corporations (Form 1120-S)

The S-corp return and shareholder K-1s, with basis tracked so losses are claimed correctly, and rental activity reported on the right form.

C-corporations (Form 1120)

Corporate income tax returns for small C-corps, prepared from reconciled books.

Nonprofits (Form 990 series)

The annual information return for small exempt organizations, such as churches and community groups, with the right version for your size.

State returns and extensions

The state returns that go with your federal return, and extensions when we need more time. An extension gives more time to file, not to pay.

What every return includes

  • A check of your books before anything is filed
  • Depreciation schedules carried forward year to year
  • A review call where we go through the draft and anything that changed
  • E-filing, signed by me as your paid preparer
  • A copy of everything kept in your secure portal

Tax planning, not just filing

Business owners get a projection before year end, so estimated payments and big decisions happen while they still make a difference. No April surprises.

Behind on past years?

I prepare prior-year and amended returns, and help sort out what went wrong before. If you need someone to represent you in an IRS exam, that needs a CPA, enrolled agent or attorney, and I'll tell you so.

How it works

  1. 1

    Free call and quote

We go over which returns you need and what changed this year. You get a flat quote in writing.

    You upload documents

Through my secure client portal, using a checklist made for your situation.

  3. 3

    Draft and review call

You see the draft before anything is filed, and we go through it together.

  4. 4

    File

E-filed, with copies kept in your portal for next year.

Usually needed

  • Last year's federal and state returns
  • W-2s, 1099s and K-1s
  • Year-end books for any business, or access to them
  • Payroll reports, loan statements and closing statements
  • Estimated tax payments made during the year

Everything goes through the portal, never email.

Tax preparation questions

Do you only work with rental owners?

No. Rental owners and Airbnb hosts are my specialty, but I prepare returns for all kinds of U.S. individuals and small businesses, including restaurants, medical practices, construction businesses and consultants.

My S-corp made no money. Do I still file?

Yes. An S-corp files Form 1120-S for every year its election is in effect, even with no income. Skipping it can bring late-filing penalties.

Can you take over from my current preparer?

Yes. I start from last year's returns and depreciation schedules, and check the books before anything is filed.

Will you sign the return?

Yes. I sign every return I prepare as the paid preparer, as the IRS requires. Ask any preparer whether they will.

What if the IRS sends a letter?

Send it to me and I'll explain what it says and what it asks for. If it needs formal representation, I'll tell you and help you find a CPA, enrolled agent or attorney.
